3PM on Anyone (1988)

Krissy Kriss (MC)、Kelz (MC)、Lynx(DJ)の3人――3PMが生まれるきっかけとなった作品。Smith & MIghty feat. Jackie Jackson「Anyone」のトラック上で3人が絡む「Rap Version」、KRISSY KRISSによる「This Is The Time」、KELZによる「I Am The Poet」。「Rap Version」はBeatmaster Recordsからリリースされたライセンス盤に収録。
83年からマイクを握り、Wild BunchらとセッションしてきたKrissy Krissは、Dave McDonald(RestrictionのPAで、後にPortisheadのエンジニアに)に誘われてSmith & Mightyのスタジオへ。Peter Dの弟と親友で、彼のプレイの上でラップをしていたKelzは、Peterの紹介でSmith & Migthyのスタジオへ。そしてSmith & Mightyが制作中の曲にDJが欲しいということで呼ばれた、当時Bad Radio(パイレーツ放送局)でDJをしていたLynx。彼らはSmith & Mightyのデビュー・シングルとなった「Anyone」のセッションで顔を合わせる。このセッションやギグを通じて、3人は3PM(3man Posse Move)として活動を共にすることになる。
LYNX:
I got into making music because I was on Bad Radio at that time and Kelz and Krissy Kriss were doing stuff with Smith & Mighty. They needed a DJ for a tune they were making and asked me to go over to Smith & Mighty's with them one night. When I got there I couldn't believe the equipment, I mean drum machies, samplers, keyboards and stuff, I was quite overwhelmed. They said to have a mix on this deck which was on the floor, they were just so laid back. Before I knew it I was going round there all the time and put some of my cuts onto some tunes. I even remember when they made their acid tune in 1988. We were round there and when we heard it we said this tune is 'acid off away' and that's what they called it. Through these jamming sessions me, Krissy and Kelz came up with a name for ourselves, 3PM. This stood for 3 man Posse Move. I think we got the name at 3 in the morning as well, so that was special.
KRISSY KRISS:
Simple things - one day Dave McDonald sontacted me and ask if I'd be interested in doing a guest appearance on a tune by Rob & Ray [Smith & Mighty], I said that it would be cool and that was that. I eventually hooked up with Kelz and Lynx and ended up recording the 'Anyone' track featuring Jackie Jackson. Through this we done nuff shows touring up 'n' down the country and across to Europe. During this time, Kelz, Lynx and me decided to form our own crew and 3PM was born - 3 man Posse Move. We recorded an album's worth material, had several 12-inch releases and appeared on a few compilation albums.
